Averett University's Graduate and Professional Studies Bachelor's Degree Program welcomes and values transfer students from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) who are appropriately prepared and determined to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) and Averett University's Graduate and Professional Studies Bachelor's Degree Program have entered into the following Community Educational Partnership Agreement in order to make the transfer process orderly and smooth for graduates of Central Virginia Community College who wish to transfer to Averett University and earn a baccalaureate degree. This partnership is designed to ensure that students who have matriculated at Central Virginia Community College can easily transition into Averett University's Graduate and Professional Studies Bachelor's Degree Program. Averett University guarantees acceptance of any student from Central Virginia Community College who has completed an Associate's Degree. Associate's Degree includes the Associate's Degree in Applied Science (AAS), Associate's Degree in Science (AS), and the Associate's Degree in Arts and Sciences (AA&S). Section 1:
- It is the intention of this agreement, as Community Educational Partners, to ensure continuity from community college programs to the appropriate curriculum of study at Averett University. Any student who completes the Associate's Degree (AAS/ AS/ AA&S) from Central Virginia Community College will be admitted to Averett University with junior status.
- Upon receipt of a completed application and official transcript or transcripts Averett University will guarantee automatic acceptance to students earning an Associate's degree from Central Virginia Community College with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. All coursework that was credited toward the associate's degree will be accepted and transferred to Averett University. The only exception is that Averett does not accept the grade of D in ENG 111 or their equivalents. Students will be required to complete a total of 120 Credit hours (transferred and Averett University Courses) to successfully earn their Averett University Baccalaureate Degree.
- Central Virginia Community College applicants must present courses that satisfy Averett University's General Education requirements. Any remaining required General Education courses will be completed through Averett University's Graduate and Professional Studies Program.
- All rules for transferring courses, as stated in the Catalog and Transfer Guidelines, will be applied. - Averett University will provide academic advising for any student considering transfer to Averett University.
Section 2:
- Any changes, additions, or deletions to this agreement shall be made only after consultation with and agreement among officials at both institutions.
- This agreement will remain in effect until terminated by either party upon written notice to the other party of an intention to terminate.
- The above provisions are mutually agreed to and shall go into effect and implemented immediately upon the execution of the signatures of the presidents of Central Virginia Community College and Averett University.
Section 3:
Announcement of Availability Agreement:
Central Virginia Community College agrees to support this Community Educational Partnership agreement with Averett University by indicating the relationship in appropriate literature and through the Central Virginia Community College web site. Averett University agrees to support this Community Educational Partnership Agreement with Central Virginia Community College by indicating the relationship in appropriate literature and through the Averett University web site. Averett University and Central Virginia Community College will work collaboratively to facilitate the sharing of information to inform students about educational opportunities, options, and programs. Central Virginia Community College and Averett University will also make this Community Educational Partnership Agreement known in appropriate materials pertinent and presented to current students, graduates, and alumni of Central Virginia Community College. Central Virginia Community College will provide Averett University with a list of graduating students each year with addresses to facilitate Averett University's ability to inform students about programs in which graduating students may have an interest.

Articulation Agreement
Between Averett University Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice
and
Central Virginia Community College - Administration of Justice Program
Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) and Averett University have entered into the following agreement in order to make the transfer process orderly and smooth for graduates of CVCC's Administration of Justice Program who wish to transfer to Averett University and earn a B.S. in Sociology/Criminal Justice.
Section 1:
- Upon receipt of a completed application and an official transcript, Averett University will guarantee automatic acceptance to students earning the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Administration of Justice from Central Virginia Community College with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. All coursework that was credited toward the associate's degree will be accepted and transferred to Averett University. The only exception is that Averett does not accept the grade of D in ENG 111or the equivalent.
- All Central Virginia Community College graduates will enter Averett University with Junior status and can expect to graduate with a baccalaureate degree after the successful completion of a minimum of 60 credits at Averett University. The block of transferred credit does not fulfill content areas for any major other than Sociology/Criminal Justice. To that end, students who drop out of the articulated program and who enter another program at Averett may have to complete more hours than indicated in this agreement.
- In addition to completing the requirements described above, a successful Central Virginia Community College applicant must present courses that satisfy Averett's general education requirements.
- Averett University will provide academic advising when requested for any student considering transfer to Averett University.
Section 2:
- All Central Virginia Community College graduates who transfer to Averett University are eligible for financial aid and scholarships on the same basis as any other Averett University student. Full-time Traditional students only are eligible for Institutional Merit Scholarships. CVCC students also are eligible for scholarships designated by Averett University especially for transfer students. Members of Phi Theta Kappa are automatically awarded a $2,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship once they are admitted to Averett University. Students are automatically considered for academic scholarships once they are granted admission to the University. No separate scholarship application is required. Some highlights of the Averett University transfer scholarship structure are shown in the table below:
