Early College Program 

The Early College Program is a unique program offered by Central Virginia Community College (CVCC). It provides students the opportunity for academic acceleration. All classes are held at the CVCC Campbell County Early College Center located at the Campbell County Technical Center in Rustburg.

Application deadline: February of current year. Contact your Highschool Guidance Counselor for the exact date.

Program of Study

  • Two-year associate degree
  • 65 credits- including general education courses
  • Transferable to all Virginia public and many private colleges and universities as well as out of state colleges
  • Challenging and rewarding program

Application Requirements:

  • Sophomore enrolled in a Campbell County High School
  • Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Be enrolled in Algebra II/Trig or a higher-level math course and have successfully completed Algebra I and Geometry
  • Submission of Early College application including recommendation forms from the following:
    • Math teacher
    • English teacher
    • Science or Social Studies teacher
    • Parental Permission

Prepare to Apply:

  • Inform your high school counselor you want to apply to the Early College program and receive an Early College Application packet.
  • Follow all directions in the packet for a successful application.
  • If all criteria are met, attend informational meeting at Campbell County Technical Center given by the Director of Instruction of Campbell County Schools. 

Tips for a Successful Application:

  • Student’s legal name as it appears on the high school transcript is provided. No nicknames.
  • Student’s high school email is listed. No student personal email addresses.
  • Parent email address and phone numbers are those which are regularly monitored. 
  • Accurate entry of the name and email address of the following:
    • High school counselor
    • Math teacher
    • English teacher
    • Science or Social Studies teacher
    • Well-developed and grammatically correct essay, showcasing student’s best writing and thoughts

At the end of the Early College application, if you have not already applied to CVCC, you should complete the CVCC application linked at the end of the Early College Application.
Students applying to Early College must complete both the Early College application and the CVCC application.
